ANC Disqualified Her Again for Chemo

Part of the Process

  • WBC: 1.4
  • Hgb: 8.5
  • Platelets: 210
  • ANC: 260

Avery’s ANC disqualified her for chemo again this week. It’s part of the process.

And the low ANC is what keeps us moving forward, especially as the mask mandate is rescinded here in Texas, to stay as vigilant as possible in keeping Avery safe.

So, today she received an Immunoglobulin Replacement Therapy. Immunoglobulin replacement therapy boosts your antibody levels when they are low to help you fight infection.

Next week, she’ll be back in clinic to see if her numbers have risen.

If she qualifies, she’ll get her last dose of chemo (for round 2), return the following Wednesday to check in on labs, and then a Bone Marrow Biopsy the week after that.

Meaning, we *could be* done with Round 2 of chemo in three weeks. Then, a 2-week break before starting the Intra-Maintenance phase.

(We’re currently in the 2nd phase of treatment. This phase includes Consolidation *the current round*, Intra-Maintenance, and then Intensification).

I know. It’s a lot. I’ve included graphics (on Facebook) to remind us all of each part of the process, plus a photo of our sweet girl in clinic today.

To help summarize, our specific prayer requests:

  • no infections
  • Avery qualifies for chemo next week
  • labs and procedures continue to show no sign of cancer
