As soon as she woke up this morning, Avery started working on meeting some goals.
After taking all of her oral meds โlike a boss,โ she also took some formula. Considering she completely shunned it yesterday, this was a win!
She took more this afternoon. Not quite at her goal yet, but sheโs working on it.
This evening we were able to get her approved for purรฉe food.
Weโre waiting on her โdinnerโ now.
She enjoyed eating from a spoon pre-transplant, so weโre hoping she picks it right back up.
To summarize:
Sheโs doing the work and making progress!!
Since I have some โspaceโ left, letโs answer a quick question weโre asked often:
What does the “BMT DAY +[NUMBER]” mean?
Day 100 is a milestone that bone marrow transplant recipients mark as the turning point in recovery.
Thatโs when the greatest risk for critical side effects is past and when the donorโs healthy cells have engrafted and begun making new blood cells.
In fact, weโll re-test around Day +100 to see if she is still 100% her donor.
As you can see by todayโs number, weโre TWENTY-FOUR days out!
SO CLOSE!!
You got this, Avi!
