Holding onto Hope for What We Want Most

❝Hope can be a powerful force. Maybe there’s no actual magic in it, but when you know what you hope for most and hold it like a light within you, you can make things happen, almost like magic.❞

– Laini Taylor

We’re in this moment now. Holding onto hope for what we want the most: REMISSION.

When we look at Avery, we see nothing but a ray of sunshine. Her bright eyes and sweet smile brings peace and joy to us on the darkest days.

Today, we’re back in the waiting room apprehensively expecting 4 sets of test results over the next week from her bone marrow biopsy.

As well as her lumbar puncture and other lab results.

There are many variables at play during this point in her treatment.

Which means there’s also a variety of different directions we can go from here.

For example, even if we get an official REMISSION result, there are still factors at play that could lead to a bone marrow transplant.

Not only are the doctors looking at all of the results, measuring Avery’s reactions to therapy, talking to other specialists across the country, and reading the latest data, but Mom & Dad are doing their own research as well.

So, with all of that, just keep Avery (and our family) in your thoughts and prayers over the next week.

Here is a summary of requests:

  • REMISSION
  • good lab results
  • Avery stays free from infections (her ANC is incredibly low again)
  • wisdom for the medical team
  • peace for our family

Finally, here’s your daily reminder (especially those 18-44) to join the National Bone Marrow Registry at Be The Match to be included in the search for a donor for Avery!

A FREE kit will be sent to you. Just mail it back ASAP.
