(Second) Chemo Day One Done

CHEMO STARTED… AGAIN!

Once again, Avery did amazing!

Her nurse and the charge nurse both came in to cheer for her because she did so well.

She had her LP this morning. In addition to drawing two vials of Cerebral Spinal Fluid (one for oncology, one for the CAR-T team), they also gave her two chemo medicines in her spine.

Around 3:00pm, they began the other medications.

PEG. This was the one that we were anxious about.

PEG can cause severe adverse reactions in some patients requiring the use of an EpiPen.

Therefore, the team had to be on standby for 15 minutes after administering it to ensure nothing went wrong.

Avery had no problems!! Whew.

She’s taken it before, but reactions to it typically occur after the second dose.

That ran for 2 hours, and with the addition of two other medications, she was done for the day.

Five medicines total today and she did great!

Plus, she ate every 2 hours and was kicking and playing during her treatments.

She is our big WARRIOR BABY!

Pray she has no side effects to the medicines, they’ll introduce another one tomorrow, and that it works!!

REMISSION IS THE GOAL!
