10 months ago today we received the devastating news of Avery’s diagnosis. Avery is so strong. The bravest little girl And she’s not done yet.
On Wednesday, December 16, we received devastating news. Our sweet baby was diagnosed with Pre B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
The Doctor (head Oncologist in ICU) came in to give some specific results (Mom was with us so we listened in), these are the notes I took.
Avery’s hemoglobin is 11.7 (aiming for the teens) and her WBC is 18,000 (aiming for under 10K). Platelets are still a little low (no number given), but not concerning.
CT Scan came back clear! They said her brain looks beautiful. Her heart is good and her lungs are clear.
The oncologist still can’t confirm the type because the lab doesn’t have those results yet. She also told them they fully expect to see some of the leukemia in Avery’s spinal cord.
Just talked to Mom, she said the ICU team is encouraged by Avery’s numbers so far. They seem to be reacting well to the platelets. They’ll do another lab soon to update those numbers.
Hemoglobin is now 7.1 (started at 4 – normal is in teens, low is 9-10). WBC is now 80,000 (started at 175,000 – normal is 0-10,000).
